Statement on the Tragic Death of Dr. Dreyfuss "Toto" Perlas
Today, the Alliance for Improving Health Outcomes (AIHO), Inc. wears black in solidarity with the Philippine health community in expressing our outrage at the senseless murder of Dr. Dreyfuss “Toto” Perlas, MHO of Sapad, Lanao Del Norte last March 1, 2017. We offer our condolences to his loved ones, family, the people of Sapad, and the nation.
We call on the authorities, both national and local, to act swiftly and decisively to bring his killer to justice. We also lend our voice to the collective cry that Dr. Toto’s sacrifice be not in vain; that his tragedy finally paves the wat for the National Government – Department of Health, Local Government Units, Law-making Bodies and other concerned agencies to provide extraordinary measures in ensuring that health workers, especially those in the frontlines, are protected from the daily dangers they have to deal with and in the unfortunate circumstances of death, afford them the same honor and gratuity as our men in uniform as they have fulfilled their duties to the Filipino people.
